SAAC Donates Canned Goods to Community FoodBank of NJ

UNION, N.J. (12/20/10) – The Kean University Department of Athletics recently collected more than 300 canned good items as part of the New Jersey Athletic Conference’s Cans Around the Conference initiative. 

Prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, Kean collected 323 cans that were subsequently donated to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.  The softball and men’s basketball teams led the donation efforts, with the entire roster of both squads contributing.

The NJAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee collected a total of 6,517 cans during its second annual “Cans Around the Conference” drive. 

“I can’t say enough about the dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving others that our SAAC displayed through this initiative,” said NJAC Commissioner Terry Small. “I am really proud of this group for their willingness to give back to others during the holiday season.”
