The Kean University Athletic Training Rehabilitation Facility is one of the best equipped centers in the state, if not the nation, with provisions rarely seen at the NCAA Division III level. Kean's modalities include a variety of electrical stimulation and ultrasound machines, laser therapy, fluidotherapy, and sequential circulator biocompression units. Our state of the art equipment includes a SwimEx rehabilitation pool, a hot and cold inground whirlpool, a Biodex isokinetic testing and rehabilitation machine, and a fluoroscope x-ray machine. The rehabilitation center also boasts a weight room and a cardio area within the facility, featuring equipment chosen specifically for rehabilitation, including a Reflex leg press machine and Woodway treadmills to decrease the load placed on the lower extremity during exercise.
Kean provides athletic training services to approximately 600
athletes participating in the University's intercollegiate
athletics program. The athletic training staff evaluates an average
of 2000 injuries and performs over 7000 treatments annually within
the facility. Our staff is comprised of four full-time
athletic trainers and two graduate assistant athletic trainers, all
of whom are Board of Certification certified and licensed in New
Jersey by the Board of Medical Examiners. Our Sports Medicine
Team is further comprised of a variety of medical specialists whose
sports medicine expertise is well known. Many of our
consultants have worked with, or are currently working with, local
professional sports teams.
The Rehabilitation Facility is also home to the clinical setting for the Athletic Training Major. Most of our graduates have stayed in the profession and work in a variety of settings; collegiate, interscholastic, clinical and professional teams. Our alumni have been successful and many have used their talents to expand into other professions. We are proud to include doctors, chiropractors, podiatrists, physical therapists, and physician assistants to our growing list of alumni.
