Occidental Rallies Past Baseball

Los Angeles, Calif. (3/8/17) – Occidental College used a seven run, sixth inning to rally past the Kean University baseball team on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

It was a see-saw battle with the Cougars scoring first with two runs in the top of the first.  Nick Polizzano collected an RBI single and Austin Arndt, who reached on a single, came around to score on a double play.

Occidental (10-5) evened the score with single runs in the first and second to knot the game at two-all before the Cougars (7-5) regained the lead with a two spot in the fourth with a two RBI single from Michael Fidanza.  Kean would add to their lead and jump out to a 6-3 advantage with single runs in the fifth and sixth with an RBI double from Frank Urso and an RBI single from Ivan Rivera.

The Tigers then took the lead for good with seven runs on four hits along with four walks and a hit by pitch in the sixth frame.

Arndt led the team offensively with a 3-for-5 day while Polizzano (pictured left) was 2-for-5.

Kean closes out their west coast trip on Thursday when they face Whittier College.
