Memphis, Tenn. (7/6/17) – Former Cougar Kevin Herget is currently sporting a 2-0 record with 22 strikeouts while playing for the Memphis Redbirds, AAA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball organization.
Herget has split time between AA and AAA this season and has collected 43 strikeouts in 39+ innings of mainly relief work this season. He registered five saves with Springfield in April and May of this year.
To date, Herget has compiled a 28-7 overall record in five seasons in the Cardinals minor league system with 32 saves. Opponents are batting just .249 against him. In 306 innings pitched he has registered 308 strikeouts and is managing a 2.67 lifetime ERA.
He was drafted in 2013 after finishing his Kean career with 31 wins and 306 strikeouts (still program records). Herget finished with a 2.49 collegiate ERA.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematical sciences.
