Football and Field Hockey Speak Respect to Elementary School Students

HILLSDALE, N.J. (10/11/17)- Members of the Kean University football and field hockey teams along with their respective coaching staff's took part in the "Week of Respect" at the George Washington Elementary School in Hillsdale.

"It's a great time going there to speak to students of such a young age about what respect week and anti-bullying really mean" said Head Football Coach Dan Garrett.

The Cougars spoke to a gymnasium of students about a variety of topics, including team work, self-respect, respecting others, leadership and kindness. The student-athletes and coaches provided strategies and scenarios that could be used not only on the field/court, but in the classrooms as well. The presentation not only captivated the audience throughout the entire assembly, it also inspired the staff and students to work together.

"It is always great for our student athletes to get involved in the community", said Head Field Hockey Coach Leslie LaFronz. "It's so important to set the right examples at an early age and our student athletes at Kean represent desirable life values."
