Krista LaMaina, Leslie LaFronz Earn Milestones in Season Opening Win

Selinsgrove, Pa. (9/2/17) - The Kean University field hockey team got off on the right foot with a 3-0 shutout of Ithaca College in the season opener for both on Saturday in the Connie Harnum Classic at Susquehanna University.

The win gave head coach Leslie LaFronz 100 wins in her Kean career.

Senior Teresa Carr netted the game's first goal off an assist from Shauna LaMaina.  Seniors Krista LaMaina and Shauna combined for the game's second goal late in the first half.

Krista closed the door with a late unassisted goal for the first win of 2017.  With today's four points, Krista is now the all-time career leader in that category in program history, passing Brittany Gibbs who had 152.

Bailee Mullen earned the shutout win as the Kean defense allowed just three shots, none on goal.

The Cougars will look to defend their tournament title on Sunday against the host Susquehanna University at 2:30 p.m.
