Field Hockey Improves to 4-0 in 3-2 Win Over Oneonta

Oneonta, N.Y. (9/9/17) – The Kean University field hockey team remained perfect on the season with a 3-2 win over Oneonta State on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars improved to 4-0 on the year while the Red Dragons fall to 2-2.

In the 19th minute the Cougars knotted the game at one, as Jenna Patrone netted a goal from the right side of the circle off of a pass from Lia DiPiazza. The Cougars took the lead, 2-1 in the 29th minute when Shauna LaMaina dribbled into the middle of the circle and beat the goalie with a power shot.

At the half the Cougars held a 2-1 lead, but had a 13-2 advantage in shots and 7-2 in penalty corners.

In the second period the Cougars expanded their lead to two goals as Kayla Molnar dribble past a defender and put the ball in the back of the cage.

The Red Dragons senior Sierra Palmatier had an answer to that goal scoring less than two minutes later to bring the lead back down to one, 3-2.

The game ended on a last ditch effort as the Red Dragons paced down the field and earned a penalty corner as time expired. The Red Dragons off the penalty corner were unable to get a shot on goal before the Cougars cleared the ball to end the game.

Bailee Mullen earned the win and improved her season record to 4-0.  Danell Jones finished the game with seven saves and fell to 1-2 on the season.
