Men’s Basketball Plays Season Finale

WAYNE, N.J. (2/15/17) – The Kean University men's basketball program wrapped up its 2016-17 season on Wednesday evening at William Paterson University in NJAC action. The Cougars fell to WPU 76-65.

The Pioneers led wire-to-wire, though Kean did outshoot their hosts 45 percent to 40 percent from the floor.

Ricky Espinal of Paterson had a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds to pace the Pioneers in the contest. Zack Frick added another 25 points for WPU.

Michael Summerer (pictured left) had an excellent outing for the Cougars, posting 23 points on 10-16 shooting, plus a game-best 17 rebounds.

Micah Kerr and Kevin Grek both chipped in 11 points each. For Grek, it was the final collegiate action of the senior's career. He hit three 3-pointers and added four rebounds and a steal. Kerr grabbed five boards and swatted a shot.

Jodrell Thompson contributed six points and three rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the floor, and Justin Watson scored eight points.

Wednesday night's contest marked the final game of the season for both the Kean men's basketball team and Paterson's program.
