Yonkers, N.Y. (4/4/12) – The Kean University men’s lacrosse team remained undefeated in Skyline play as they cruised past the College of Mt. St. Vincent, 16-2, Wednesday evening.
The Cougars improved to 9-3 this season with a 3-0 mark in conference action while the Dolphins fall to 7-7 and 0-3 in the Skyline.
After falling behind, 1-0, on a goal from Bruce Pappas early in the
first quarter, the Cougars tied things up with a goal from
sophomore Richard Cheifitz (pictured left) for the
quarter’s only scoring. Kean then controlled play for
the rest of the match, firing off 13 additional goals between the
first and fourth quarters to dominate in the win. The Cougars
used a balanced attack with five goals in each of the second, third
and fourth quarters, using a 14-0 run in the process. In all,
42 Cougars played in the contest, with 11 different goal
scorers.
Cheifitz finished with three goals and two groundballs while Dave Hobson, Ryan Buerkle and Tom Clifford added two apiece. Four different keepers saw time in the cage with a combined 11 saves in the win.
Kean stays on the road and will take on Connecticut College on Saturday.
