Men’s Lacrosse Pounds Hilbert in Palmetto State

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (3/7/17) – Freshman Cole Blackley scored four times as the Kean University men's lacrosse team doubled up Hilbert College in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 16-8 on March 7.

After a tight first quarter, the Cougars outscored Hilbert 7-1 in the second quarter to pull away. Mike Snellen and Matt Brodley also notched hat tricks in the game for Kean.

Connor Baucom won 17-of-19 faceoffs for Kean to give the team a huge edge in possession. He led all players with eight ground balls, while Lucas Kiernan, Brodley and Danny Rito scooped up four apiece.

Alec Ramos assisted on four Cougar goals and tied with Shae McCusker for the team lead with two caused turnovers.

Ryan Sieb earned the win in goal with five saves, and Joseph Massoni and Peter D'Antoni also saw time between the pipes.

It marked the first collegiate hat trick for Blackley (pictured left), who came into the contest with two goals this year.

Tyler Nicoloff and Edward Mathias scored two goals each for Hilbert. It was their first action of the season. The Cougars are now 2-2.

Kean is scheduled to play again on Wednesday against Oswego State College.
