UNION, N.J. (4/1/17) – Andrew Yenesel and Tom Kelly posted hat tricks as the Kean University men's lacrosse team smashed the College of Mount Saint Vincent 17-4 on Saturday. The three scores for Yenesel (pictured left) were the first goals of the freshman's career, let alone his first hat trick. He also had the first three assists of his career on Saturday.
The Cougars peppered the goal with 41 shots in the first half. They led 7-3 at the break, but Christian Brady made 16 saves in the first half to keep the Dolphins close.
Matt Brodley had three assists plus a goal in the first 30 minutes. Seven different Cougars scored Kean's seven first-half goals.
Kean scored 13 of the game's final 14 goals to win with ease. Dolan scored a man-down goal in the fourth quarter to help highlight the second half.
Connor Baucom won 12-of-16 faceoffs and led all players with 12 ground balls. Ramos picked up an additional seven. Kelly caused four Dolphin turnovers, while Ryan Sieb made five saves for the win. Peter D'Antoni, Joseph Massoni and Zach Koehler also saw action between the pipes for Kean.
The Cougars took 69 shots and gobbled up 55 ground balls. The Dolphins were held to just 13-30 on clear attempts. In contrasts, Kean was 14-16. Brady finished with 24 saves for CMSV.
Up next, Kean will head to Purchase College on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. for another Skyline Conference matchup.
