Men's Soccer Holds Hunter Scoreless

New York, N.Y. (10/9/17) – The Kean University men's soccer blanked Hunter College by the final of 4-0 on Monday afternoon in non-conference action.

Kean improves to 6-5-1 this fall while Hunter falls to 3-10-1.

The Cougars scored the game-winner right out of the gate as Danny Guillen intercepted a ball off the foot of goalkeeper Paul Tenfoung and launched a 40 yard strike for a 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game.

Kean found the back of the net twice more in the first half as senior Alex Noriega scored on a penalty kick and rookie Vinceroy Nelson took a through ball from Erick Reyes on a breakaway to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

The Nelson/Reyes combo worked again in the 61st minute for what would be the final.

Derek Phells picked up the shutout win, registering two saves.

In total the Cougars paced the offense holding a 16-2 advantage in corner kicks and 35-5 advantage in shots.

Kean returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday when they travel to New Jersey City University.
