Men's Volleyball Takes Two in Skyline Action

Brooklyn, N.Y. (2/11/12) – The Kean University men's volleyball team improved to 6-0 in Skyline Conference play after picking up two wins against The Sage Colleges and the College of Mt. St. Vincent by the scores of 3-2 and 3-0, respectively, Saturday afternoon at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU.

In game one the Cougars defeated Sage for the second time this season (25-21,20-25,26-24,23-25,17-15).  Senior Christian Portera and junior Steve Vahalla combined for 40 digs, with both hitting over 40%.  Vahalla (pictured left) added nine digs and four blocks while teammate Sam Haimann added 20 digs.  Rookie Kyle Farley recorded four kills, five digs and six blocks in the win.

In game two Kean breezed by Mt. St. Vincent for the second time this week.  Vahalla picked up eight kills with a .500 attack percentage.  Freshman Ron Dunn collected 13 assists to go along with two kills, five digs and three assisted blocks.

The Cougars enjoy a break in the action and return to play on Thursday, February 23rd when they travel to Purchase College in Skyline action.
