Men’s Volleyball Returns to Action with Win over Baruch; Ginex Collects 100th Win

NEW YORK, N.Y. (3/9/17) – After taking two weeks off midseason, the Kean University men's volleyball team got back in the swing of things with a 3-1 victory over Baruch College in Manhattan on Thursday.

Freshman Jay Bynum had the best day of his young career, leading the team with 13 kills and a .611 attack percentage.

The Bearcats took the first set by two points as Kean shook off the rust from their fortnight of rest, but the Cougars swept the nest three in a row to earn the victory. Kean improved to 12-7, Baruch is now a mirror image at 7-12.

Ian Capp gave out 40 assists and ripped a game-best five aces, while Shayron Taylor had two solo blocks to go with seven kills. Jacob Kauffman added nine kills and Steven Zarzycki had eight.

Nick Breslin had 12 digs, and Kean had a total of 44 in the match to go with 11 aces and six blocks.

The win marks career win 100 for head coach Charlie Ginex who already owns the most wins in men's volleyball program history.

The Cougars will return home on Sunday to host Sarah Lawrence College and Yeshiva University to begin Skyline Conference play.
