UNION, N.J. (3/19/17) – The Kean University men's volleyball team dominated Sarah Lawrence College and Yeshiva University to start the 2017 Skyline Conference season on Sunday. Kean improved to 14-7 on the year with the victories.
There was just one tie (and no lead changes) in the first match of the day against Sarah Lawrence. Jacob Milnazik was one ace away from tying the school-record of eight aces in a match.
Against the Maccabees, Kean would have lead wire-to-wire if Yeshiva had not earned the opening points of sets two and three. The combined score from Sunday's action was Kean 150, opponents 26.
Kean has now won 67-straight Skyline Conference matches (including the postseason) dating back to the 2013 season.
The Cougars hit .462 and held their opponents to a -.219 average. Milnazik finished with 11 combined aces as Kean ripped 37 total. Nico Mercadante and Ian Capp split the setting duties nearly evenly with 23 and 20 assists, respectively.
Kean will return to action on Wednesday when the team hosts No. 3 Stevens Institute of Technology in a New Jersey rivalry game at 7 p.m.
