#4 Men’s Volleyball Sets Season Record for Victories with CVC Semifinal Sweep of Eastern Mennonite

UNION, N.J. (4/13/18)- Nick Buseski totaled 14 kills and posted a .464 hitting percentage as the #4 Kean University men's volleyball team extended their match winning streak to 26 matches and set a new  single-season record for victories with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-22) sweep of Eastern Mennonite University in the Continental Volleyball Conference semifinals on Friday evening.

Jared Warner and Shayron Taylor both tallied seven kills apiece for the Cougars who improve to 32-2 overall. William Ragland finished with nine kills for the Royals who finish their season at 21-13 overall.

Buseski totaled 10 kills over the second and third sets as the Cougars coasted to 25-15 and 25-17 victories in the opening two sets. Kean rallied in the final set as the Cougars trailed 12-6 after three straight points from Travis Abele.

Kean climbed back into the contest with a 5-1 run that included two kills from Jay Bynum and Taylor serving for three straight points. The Cougars cut the Royals led to 13-11 and forced EMU to call a timeout. The final set went back and forth before Zarzycki closed out the victory with back-to-back kills.

Ian Capp finished with another double-double with 32 assists and 13 digs, while Nick Breslin totaled six digs in the process.  

Kean finished the match hitting .261, while EMU couldn't crack above .100 for the match

Head Coach Charlie Ginex and the Cougars will return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Apr. 14th, in the CVC championship against the Saints of Marymount University at 3:00 p.m.
