Indianapolis, Ind. (5/8/17) – The Kean University softball team was selected as a regional host in the upcoming NCAA Softball Championship tournament as announced by the NCAA on Monday.
The Cougars will host a pod of Christopher Newport University, Neumann University and Mount Saint Mary College beginning on Friday.
CNU and Mt. St. Mary will square off at 1 p.m. while Kean will play Neumann at 3:30 p.m.
Kean enters the tournament on a six game winning streak with the third best season record for wins so far in program history (33-7). The Cougars earned a Pool A bid with a 5-2 win over Stockton University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship on Sunday. Kean is making their 11th NCAA tournament appearance.
Mt. St. Mary earned an automatic bid into the tournament for the second straight season after claiming the 2017 Skyline Conference Championship with a 1-0 win over Sage on Sunday. The Knights own a 27-12 overall mark.
Neumann University won its third straight Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship with a 5-0 win over Immaculata on Sunday afternoon. The Knights have appeared in the NCAA Tournament eight times.
Christopher Newport will be making its 11th straight and 15th overall NCAA appearance after topping Mary Washington 4-3 on Sunday. The Captains have a 31-8 overall record heading into the tournament.
