Clemons Earns NJAC All-Star Honors

PITMAN, N.J. (2/21/12) – Junior guard Naimah Clemons has been named a New Jersey Athletic Conference second-team all-star, as voted on by the league’s 10 head coaches and announced on Tuesday morning.

A three-time NJAC all-star, Clemons was a first-team all-star a year ago and was the conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2009-10, when she was a also a second-team all-star. 

In nine NJAC games, Clemons averaged 24.9 points per game and scored 30 or more points against Ramapo College (35), Rowan University (30) and Rutgers-Camden (35).  She also averaged 7.8 rebounds and added 3.7 steals and 3.3 assists per game, while shooting 54.2 percent (90-of-166) from the floor.

Overall this season, Clemons ranks third in the country in scoring (23.8 points per game) and has scored 30 or more points six times.  Earlier this season, Clemons became the 19th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points and currently ranks seventh with 1,313 career points.

This season, Clemons helped lead the Cougars to the NJAC South Division title and home court throughout the playoffs with a 12-1 conference mark.  She scored 22 points in Kean’s overtime win over NJAC North Division champion William Paterson University.
