Women's Basketball Cruises Past NJCU

Jersey City, N.J. (12/6/17) – The Kean University women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to breeze past New Jersey City University by the final of 85-47.

Junior Marajiah Bacon led the Cougars (4-3, 2-2 NJAC) with 17 points and five assists.

Kean trailed for just 17 seconds of the matchup as Jesenia Montalvo nailed a trey, three points of her game-high 22 on the night, to put NJCU ahead, 5-4.  The lead was short lived as Kean regained the lead on back-to-back free throws from Bacon.

The Cougars extended the lead to double-digits at the end of the first quarter (17-7) and led by as many as 23 during the second stanza on a layup from Emily Dominguez.  Kean headed into the break with a 38-18 lead.

Kean cruised through the second half as 12 players saw action in the contest.

Payce Lange finished with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals.  Camille Flim registered 11 points and teammate Latice Cunningham added nine points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday when they host Ramapo College at 3 p.m.
