Women's Lacrosse Coasts In Season Opener

Old Westbury, N.Y. (3/4/17) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team exploded offensively in their season debut with a 20-4 win over host SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first minute of action, the Cougars responded with nine unanswered goals to convincingly take a comfortable lead they would not relinquish.  In the first 30 minutes of action, Kean raced out to a 13-2 lead.

In the first half, Morgan Graham tallied four goals with four assists.  Teammate Taylor Hynes netted two goals and three assists to pace the Cougars.

The second half was much of the same as 23 players saw action in the contest.

In total, Graham led the team with five goals and five assists while Emily Stasuk (pictured left) finished with four goals and two assists.

In goal, keepers Nikki Apostolopoulos, Josie Pagano and Samantha Drew all saw game time, collecting a combined three saves.

The Cougars head to the Sunshine State to play three games in the coming week, beginning on Monday.
