Union, N.J. (4/8/17) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team exploded for 20 goals in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener by the final of 20-2 over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday afternoon.
Kean improves to 8-3, 1-0 in the NJAC while Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Cougars pushed across 14 goals on 28 shots in the opening stanza as Kean built a double-digit lead with 11:19 to go on an Emily Stasuk marker. Stasuk (pictured left) led all players with four goals on the day, three in the first half.
The Scarlet Raptors erased the shutout with 26:11 to go in the second period as Nicole Martin recorded her 18th goal of the season to make it 15-1.
In all, 11 different Cougars scored in today's matchup, with 20 players seeing action on the field.
Offensively Danni LeSaint added three goals while Morgan Graham, Lex Meyer, Andrea Trentacosti, and Taylor Nyberg all chipped in with a pair. Meghan Tillger provided one goal, two assists, and 13 draw controls.
In goal, Nikki Apostolopoulos earned the win with just under 54 minutes of work and eight saves.
Kean returns to NJAC action on Tuesday when they travel to Ramapo College.
