Women's Lacrosse Cruises To Season Opening Win

Union, N.J. (3/3/18) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-2 opening day victory over SUNY Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon.

Lex Meyer, Brittany Ballack and Morgan Graham all collected hat tricks for the Cougars. 

The Cougars (1-0) opened up the scoring in the first minute of action with a free position goal from Ballack.  Kean would tack on three more in the opening 10 minutes before the Panthers (0-1) erased the shutout with an unassisted tally from Natasha Treuman in the 12th minute. 

Kean then paced the scoring, pushing out to a 13-2 halftime lead.

The Cougars held Old Westbury scoreless in the second period and spread out six more goals in the win.

Nikki Apostolopoulos, Josie Pagano and Samantha Drew all shared time in net, collecting a combined six saves.

Offensively, Danni LeSaint and Jamie Lewit each recorded two goals, with Lewit adding an assist.  Junior Sarah Powers registered one goal and two assists as 28 players saw action for the squad.

Kean returns to action on Friday when they host the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Friday, March 9th at 4 p.m.
