Women's Lacrosse Improves to 10-0 With Win Over Coast Guard

New London, Conn. (4/4/18) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team made it ten in a row with a 19-6 non-conference win over the Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday evening.

The Cougars improve to 10-0 while the Bears fall to 8-2 on the season.

Senior Brittany Ballack and sophomore Danni LeSaint led the Cougars as they each scored a game high three goals. Junior Meghan Tillger had a game high five points with a goal and four assists while senior Emily Stasuk finished with four points on two goals and two assists. Junior Morgan Graham finished with two goals and one assist and senior Krista LaMaina scored two goals of her own.

Coast Guard was led by junior Carter Sanderson and freshman Mary Goins who each had two goals.

Kean jumped out to an early 6-0 lead as LaMaina fired home her seventh goal of the season with 17:37 remaining in the first half to cap off the early run.

The lead remained six for the remainder of the opening period until Goins opened the second half with an unassisted goal to move the Bears within five at 10-5.

The Cougars, however, seized the momentum back scoring nine of the final 10 goals to secure the win and remain as one of the 10 undefeated teams left in Division III.

Senior goalie Nikki Apostolopoulos (10-0) allowed five goals and made nine saves, including six in the first half. Sophomore Josie Pagano played the final 13:14 making one save and allowing one goal.
