Women's Soccer Blanks Emmanuel in Season Opener

Union, N.J. (9/1/17) - Freshman Deana Abdou got the action started with the first goal of the game to help send the Kean University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory against Emmanuel College in the season opener for both.

Abdou scored her first career goal to get Kean (1-0) on the board after fifteen minutes of play in the second half.  Abdou found the ball at her feet inside the box and ripped a shot into the left corner of the net.

The Cougars added insurance late in the game with a break away goal by Kendall Machak from a long pass up field by Vanessa Earley.  About three minutes later, Mallory Noordeloos sent another long pass up field to Alana Baron who finished the shot into the back of the net.

Keeper Casey McDonnell made three stops in the shutout win.  For Emmanuel, Alexis Garwon recorded seven saves in the loss.

Kean returns to action on Saturday for day two of the Cougar Classic.
