Women’s Swimming Captures Relay in Loss to FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. (1/6/18)- The Kean University women's swimming team captured the 400-yard medley relay in a 109-79 loss to FDU-Florham at the Ferguson Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. The Devils improve to 4-5, while the Cougars fall to 0-7.

Elizabeth Hadley, Kelsey Rosa, Jessica Leandro and Erykah Cain clocked in at a combined time of 5:32.37. The Cougars finished second in seven different events, including Darlene Holmes placing second in the 50-yard freestyle (27.96), the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.83) and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Leandro, Hadley, and Rosa each took second in their own events. Leandro placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (3:08.00), Rosa placed second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:57.83) and Hadley placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:24.08). Stephanie Kontra took second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a second-place time of 15:28.19.  

Holmes, Kontra, Molly Lasko and Sarah Johnson combined for a second-place time of 4:49.01 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Head Coach Barbara Perkins and the Cougars will return to the pool for their season finale in Ewing, N.J. on Saturday, Jan. 20th against the Lions of TCNJ at 2:00 p.m.
