Women's Volleyball Falls in Union Interleague Challenge

Schenectady, N.Y. (10/8/11) – The Kean University women's volleyball team dropped four decisions in the Union Interleague Challenge held at Union College on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday evening the Cougars (9-15) fell to Oneonta State, 3-2 (25-20, 20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 9-15) and host Union, 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 18-25, 21-25).  On Saturday, Kean was defeated by Lasell College, 3-2 (29-31, 16-25, 25-18, 25-20, 12-15) and Skidmore College, 3-1 ().

Oneonta State
Rookie Alana Aranjo collected 45 assists while freshman Jennifer Espinal had 16 kills and 14 digs.  Junior Katie Schuh recorded 22 digs.

Union
Sophomore Kaitlyn Hansen led the way with 14 kills and five total blocks while Aranjo added 39 assists, seven digs and five kills.  Espinal collected 12kills and 10 digs.

Lasell
Espinal had a team-high 21 kills to go along with 19 digs and four aces while Schuh tallied 25 digs.  Hansen and rookie Shannon Hood each recorded eight total blocks. 

Skidmore
Senior Tara Richey registered nine kills and three total blocks while Aranjo added 28 assists.

For her efforts, Hansen was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Kean returns to action on Tuesday when they host New Jersey City University at 7 p.m.
