Union, N.J. (9/2/17) - The Kean University women's volleyball team suffered two losses to close out the Kean Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
After jumping ahead 2-0 against Nebraska Wesleyan University, the Cougars taken away as the Prairie Wolves rallied for set three and four wins forcing the deciding fifth set. Kean trailed early in the fifth but pushed ahead with Vikki Stec at serve to take a four point advantage (10-6). NWU tied the set at 10-all and it was a see-saw battle from there as 19 points were needed from the Prairie Wolves to pull out the comeback win.
Stec compiled 16 kills and two blocks while Brett Harper registered 12 kills in the loss.
In the nightcap, the Cougars were handed a straight set loss to Johnson and Wales, who was perfect in the tournament and have won 37 of the last 38 matches they have played in dating back to last season.
Sara Ridgway recorded nine kills in the match on her way to being named to the All-Tournament team. She finished with 42 kills and 11 blocks in the tournament.
Kean enjoys a short break before hosting another tournament next weekend, beginning on Friday.
