Volleyball Splits in Cougar Classic as Ridgway Sets New Single Game Standard

Union, N.J. (9/9/17) – The Kean University women's volleyball team split in day two action of the Cougar Classic on Saturday.

Scranton 3, Kean 0 (23-25, 17-25, 17-25)

The Cougars were limited to just .136 hitting as the University of Scranton remained unbeaten in the straight set match.  Kean was led by Calli Scheuermann and Sara Ridgway who each had eight kills.  Ridgway hit .467.  

Kean 3, Plattsburgh 1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-22, 25-13)

Jesse Larkin was one of three players to tally double-digit kills as the Cougars (4-4) rallied in the nightcap to even their season record at 4-4.  Larkin hit an impressive .769 (11 kills, 1 error) while adding four assisted blocks.  Ridgway continued to impress with 10 kills (.400%) and 11 assisted blocks.  Her 11 assisted blocks is a new Kean single game standard. 

The Cougars open NJAC play on Tuesday when they host William Paterson University at 7 p.m.
