Women's Volleyball Posts Straight Set Win in NJAC Opener

Union, N.J. (9/12/17) – The Kean University women's volleyball team topped William Paterson University with a straight set win in the first conference game of the year on Tuesday evening. 

Junior Vikki Stec led all players with 16 kills and sported a .480 attacking percentage as the Cougars (5-4, 1-0 NJAC) rolled off a 25-17, 25-20, 25-21 victory. 

Kean cruised to a first-set win and pulled away in the second set late before battling in the third set to pull out the win.  Tied at 14-all the Pioneers (3-2, 0-1 NJAC) took advantage of a ball-handling error and followed with three straight kills to pull ahead 18-14.  Later still holding on to a three point advantage (21-18), the Cougars put the game away with seven straight points, including three kills from Sara Ridgway.

Ridgway finished the night with 10 kills and no errors (.714%) and seven total blocks.  Sophomore Jesse Larkin registered 12 kills (.478%) and Brianna Calvano tallied 43 assists.  For WP Alyson Toman collected a team-high 12 kills (no errors) in the loss.
