UNION, N.J. (10/25/06) - The Kean University men's soccer team had six different players score a goal and five other players record an assist, as the Cougars defeated William Paterson University, 6-0, in the New Jersey Athletic Conference men's soccer regular season finale on Wednesday evening. The victory improved Kean to 8-6-5 overall, 4-3-2 in the NJAC and helped the Cougars clinch the fourth seed in the upcoming NJAC tournament. The Pioneers conclude the season at 7-9-1 overall, 3-6 in the conference.

The Cougars wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as junior midfielder Thomas Fink (Hamilton, N.J.) scored off the assist from freshman midfielder Ronald Quiroz (Fairview, N.J.) just 1:51 into the contest.

Midway through the opening half, the Cougars were awarded a penalty kick following a foul in the box. Senior forward Jorge Montesinos (Dover, N.J.) fired the shot that Pioneer junior keeper David Casper (Franklin, N.J.) saved, however the rebound went straight to junior midfielder Damien Serafin (Wallington, N.J.) , who one-timed the shot past Casper for the 2-0 advantage. Following the goal, William Paterson was forced to play a man-down the rest of the contest after a Pioneer player received a red card.

The Cougars added one more goal before halftime, as junior forward Anthony Tuesta (Clifton, N.J.) scored off the assist from sophomore forward Cory Wilson (Woodbury, N.J.) in the 32nd minute.

In the second half, the Cougars added goals by sophomore back Thomas Azydzik (Clark, N.J.), freshman forward David Scott (Sanford, Fla.) and freshman forward Joseph Odumewu (Maplewood, N.J.). Sophomore back Christian Raigoza (Paterson, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Jacob Denney (Mt. Holly, N.J.) each added assists in the victory.

In goal for the Pioneers, Casper stopped seven shots, while Cougar keepers Kyle Crego (Ocean City, N.J.) and Chris Chaban (Hillside, N.J.) each made two saves.
