Cougars Fall to Richard Stockton, 2-1

UNION, N.J. (10/3/06) - Richard Stockton College senior forward Aimee Rendine (West Milford, N.J.) tallied the game-winner with less than eight minutes to go, as the Ospreys rallied back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat host Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference field hockey action on Tuesday evening. With the victory, the Ospreys even their record at 5-5 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC, while Kean drops to 4-4 overall, 1-2 in the conference.

The Cougars took a 1-0 lead early in the contest, as sophomore midfielder Katie McGee (Cherry Hill, N.J.) sent a pass in front of the cage that freshman forward Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) directed in for the first goal of the game in ninth minute.

With under 20 minutes remaining in the contest, the Ospreys tied the game at 1-1 when senior forward Alison Capelli (Mt. Holly, N.J.) controlled the loose ball in the circle and knocked it in with 19:55 left in the contest.

Rendine netted the game-winner exactly 12 minutes later when she tipped in the ball from senior midfielder Kristen Woodrow (West Deptford, N.J.). The Ospreys then held off a furious rally, as the Cougars were awarded three penalty corners with no time left on the clock.

For the game, Kean held a 24-18 edge in shots and an overwhelming 24-7 advantage in penalty corners. Stockton senior goalkeeper Caitlin Nolan (Riverside, N.J.) stopped 11 shots in the cage, while freshman goalie Jenni Barry (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) made nine saves for Kean.
