Cougars Fall to Richard Stockton, 2-1

College senior forward Aimee Rendine (West Milford,
N.J.) tallied the game-winner with less than eight minutes
to go, as the Ospreys rallied back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to
defeat host Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference field
hockey action on Tuesday evening. With the victory, the Ospreys
even their record at 5-5 overall, 2-1 in the NJAC, while Kean drops
to 4-4 overall, 1-2 in the conference.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead early in the contest, as sophomore
midfielder Katie McGee (Cherry Hill, N.J.) sent a
pass in front of the cage that freshman forward Brittany
Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) directed in for the first goal
of the game in ninth minute.
With under 20 minutes remaining in the contest, the Ospreys tied
the game at 1-1 when senior forward Alison Capelli (Mt.
Holly, N.J.) controlled the loose ball in the circle and
knocked it in with 19:55 left in the contest.
Rendine netted the game-winner exactly 12 minutes later when she
tipped in the ball from senior midfielder Kristen Woodrow
(West Deptford, N.J.). The Ospreys then held off a furious
rally, as the Cougars were awarded three penalty corners with no
time left on the clock.
For the game, Kean held a 24-18 edge in shots and an overwhelming
24-7 advantage in penalty corners. Stockton senior goalkeeper
Caitlin Nolan (Riverside, N.J.) stopped 11 shots
in the cage, while freshman goalie Jenni Barry (Berkeley
Heights, N.J.) made nine saves for Kean.
