Women's Soccer Blanked By #4 TCNJ, 5-0
EWING, N.J. - The College of New Jersey had five different
players score, as the fourth-ranked Lions defeated visiting Kean
University, 5-0, in New Jersey Athletic Conference women's soccer
action on Saturday afternoon. In a rematch of last season's NJAC
title game, the victory improves the Lions to 8-0-2 overall, 4-0-1
in the conference, while the Cougars dropped to 9-3 overall, 3-3 in
the NJAC.
The Lions got early scoring just 13:34 into the game as Dana
DiBruno (Cherry Hill, N.J.) redirected a cross from Christine
Mullin (Cherry Hill, N.J.) putting the hosts in front.
Midway through the half, TCNJ doubled its advantage as DiBruno
touched the ball back to sophomore Allie Schilling (Somerdale,
N.J.), who cashed in on the nice feed and tallied her second goal
of the season.
The Lions then added three more goals in the first 20 minutes of
the second half as Mullin, Jamie Kunkel (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) and
Kristen Cubicciotti (North Haledon, N.J.) each found the back of
the net and rounded out the scoring.
TCNJ goalie Jessica Clarke (Wayne, NJ/Wayne) added to her growing
streak of not allowing a goal, as the freshman posted two saves.
Clarke has not allowed a goal in the last 859:16.
In addition to Clarke, TCNJ's defense held the nation's leading
scorer Heather Anzivino (Bedford, N.J.) off of the scoreboard and
limited her to only one shot on goal.
In goal for the Cougars, Samantha Groh (Mason, Mich.) finished with
six saves, while Nicole Groszew (Denville, N.J.) made two.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, October 11, when they
travel to Montclair State University for a NJAC contest at 7 p.m.
