Keller, Wright Push Kean Past Kings Point,

UNION, N.J. (11/21/06) - Seniors Bryan Keller (Piscataway, N.J.)
and Lamar Wright (Galloway, N.J.) combined for 42 combined points
as Kean University defeated visiting United States Merchant Marine
Academy (USMMA) Kings Point, 107-85, Tuesday evening at Harwood
Arena.
The Cougars 107 points are the most since December of 2004 when
Kean defeated rival William Paterson, 116-108, in overtime.
Kean's (3-0) William Floyd (Eustis, Fla.) chipped in 11 points off
the bench while Brian Kelly (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) led the Mariners
(1-1) with 15 points in the loss.
Both teams battled in the first eight minutes as no team led by
more than six points. The Cougars then took control, outscoring
USMMA 21-7 over the next six minute of action. Keller ignited the
run and contributed 12 points in the span.
Kean headed into the locker room at halftime with a comfortable
51-30 lead. Keller finished with 14 points in the half while Wright
was right behind with 13.
Sophomore Matt Oaks (Newtown, N.C.) led the Mariners with eight
first half points.
The Cougars kept pace in the second half, leading by as many as 25.
USMMA pulled only as close as 14 points as Max Paul (Sag Harbor,
N.Y.) sank two free-throws with just under 14 minutes on the
clock.
Keller led all players with 23 points in 23 minutes. Wright
finished with 19 points, six assists and four steals. Senior Brett
Wyatt (Elizabeth, N.J.) recorded nine points, seven rebounds, seven
assists and seven steals in the Cougars third straight win.
Ryan Samuel (Cedar Hill, Texas) recorded 11 points while teammate
Jon Fassnacht (York, Pa.) contributed ten in the loss.
