Balanced Attack Propels Kean Past Hunter,

UNION, N.J. - (12/14/06) Freshman guard Cardiss Jackman
(Tobyhanna, Pa.) led all players with 16 points as the Kean
University women's basketball team remained undefeated with an
85-37 victory over visiting Hunter College, Thursday evening at
Harwood Arena.
Junior forward Chari' Cooper (Paulsboro, N.J.) recorded her
third straight double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds for the
Cougars (8-0). Sharee Branch-El Vielot (Queens, N.Y.) led the Hawks
(4-5) with a team-high 16 points.
Both teams battled in the first seven minutes of action before
Kean sprinted out to 28-8 led with a 16-0 run over the next five
minutes as eight different players registered points in the span.
The Cougars entered the break with a comfortable 45-18 lead. Cooper
led all players with nine points while senior Ebony Allen (Camden,
N.J.) tallied eight points.
Kean then coasted through the second half, outscoring the Hawks
40-19.
Allen finished with 12 points and seven caroms for the Cougars,
while Melissa Beyruti (Union City, N.J.) tacked on nine points in
the win.
Kean has one remaining game on tap before the holiday break as
they take on nationally ranked University of Scranton here at
Harwood Arena on Tuesday, December 17th, beginning at 7 p.m.
