Kean Topped by Stevens 1-0
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (9/13/06) - The Kean
University Cougars gave up a goal with just over 20 minutes to go
in the contest as they dropped a 1-0 decision to The Stevens
Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the
Cougars fall to 1-2, while the Ducks improved to 5-1.
Midway through the second half Stevens, junior defender
Stephanie Linder (Eatontown, N.J.) passed the ball
from backfield to sophomore midfielder Kerri Polidore
(Garwood, N.J.), who was set-up on the right side.
Polidore found freshman forward Nicole Cook (Fallbrook,
Calif.)
at the top of the circle and Cook sent in a shot while moving to
give the Ducks the advantage.
Overall in the game, the Cougars out shot Stevens 11-7, while the
ducks held a 9-6 advantage in penalty corners. Kean goalie
Jenni Barry (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) made three
saves in the loss, while Stevens keeper Stephanie Smith
(Hockessin, Del.) made 10 saves.
