Kean, NJCU Battle to 1-1 Tie in NJAC Action
UNION, N.J. (9/27/06) - Kean University junior
goalkeeper Kyle Crego (Ocean City, Md.) made nine
saves, and New Jersey City University junior goalkeeper
Bruce Neves (Newark, N.J.) stopped seven shots, as
Kean and NJCU battled to a 1-1 tie in New Jersey Athletic
Conference men's soccer action on Wednesday evening. The Cougars
record stands at 4-2-3 overall, 1-1-2 in the NJAC, while the Gothic
Knights are 7-1-1 overall, 2-0-1 in the conference.
The Gothic Knights took a 1-0 lead in the first half, as sophomore
midfielder Edison Bilbao (Carteret, N.J.) took a
pass off the free kick from sophomore midfielder Cristhian
Acuna (East Newark, N.J.) and fired a shot off of Crego's
hands in the 30th minute.
Kean tied the score early in the second half, when junior
midfielder Konrad Kruczek (Clifton, N.J.) scored
his fourth goal of the year. After taking the team's corner kick,
Kruczek took received a quick pass back from junior forward
Anthony Tuesta (Clifton, N.J.) and fired a shot
from the left side into the back of the net at 55:00.
Kean held an 18-16 edge in shots and a 7-6 advantage in corner
kicks.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, September 30, when they
face Ramapo College in NJAC action at 1 p.m.
