Men's Soccer Falls to NYU, 1-0
NEWARK,, N.J. (9/7/06) - The Kean University
men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to host New York
University on Thursday evening at New Jersey Institute of
Technology. The win improved the Violets to 2-0 this season, while
Kean dropped to 1-1 thus far in 2006.
After a scoreless opening half, NYU junior co-captain
Jeritt Thayer (Corona del Mar, Calif.) headed in a
free kick from senior Antonio Trillo (Ozone Park,
N.Y.) just 11:39 into the second half.
NYU sophomore goalkeeper Chris Wright (Colchester,
Conn.) made three saves in posting his second shutout,
while Kean junior Kyle Crego (Ocean City, N.J.)
made four stops.
The Violets held an 11-3 advantage in shots, while both teams
recorded a pair of corner kicks.
Kean returns to action on Saturday, September 9, when the team
hosts New York City College of Technology in the opening round of
the Cougar Invitational at 4 p.m.
