Cougars Fall at Rowan, 93-87
GLASSBORO, N.J. (1/17/07) - Senior guard Bryan Keller
(Piscataway, N.J.) scored 23 points, however the Kean University
men's basketball team dropped a 93-87 decision to host Rowan
University in New Jersey Athletic Conference South Division action
on Wednesday evening.
Keller hit five three-pointers, however the Cougars (11-6, 2-3
NJAC) could not offset a 42-point performance from Rowan senior
guard Thomas Baker (Millville, N.J), as Rowan (13-2, 3-1 NJAC) won
their 10th straight game.
The Cougars, who trailed 44-29 at halftime, used a 9-1 run midway
through the second half to cut the deficit to three points at
76-73, as Keller netted seven points in the stretch. Rowan pushed
the lead back to 89-83 with just over a minute remaining, before
Keller made a pair of free throws and guard Lamar Wright (Galloway,
N.J.) added a lay-up to pull with 89-87 with 27 seconds
remaining.
Down the stretch, Baker and forward Dwayne Reevey (Fair Haven,
N.J.) each made a pair of foul shots to seal the Prof victory.
For the Cougars, Wright finished with 19 points, five rebounds and
three steals, while senior guard Bryan Miller (Trenton, N.J.) added
10 points off the bench. Senior forward Brett Wyatt (Elizabeth,
N.J.) nhad nine points and five rebounds in just 12 minutes before
fouling out.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, January 20, when they
host NJAC North Division opponent Montclair State University in
Take a Kid to the Game Day. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
