Men's Hoops Defeats John Jay, 80-76
NEW YORK (1/8/07) - Senior guard Bryan Keller (Piscataway, N.J.)
netted a game-high 23 points to lead four players in
double-figures, as Kean University defeated host John Jay College,
80-76, in non-conference men's basketball action on Monday
evening.
For the game, Keller hit 7-of-10- shots from the floor, including
four three-pointers, as the Cougars (10-4) snapped a two-game
losing streak. Godfrey Mascall led the Bloodhounds (2-12) with 20
points and seven assists.
Despite leading throughout much of the game, the Cougars withstood
several John Jay runs and would take the lead for good with a 9-2
run to build a 72-66 advantage.
Junior forward Jonathan Oliver (Galloway, N.J.) made his first
start of the season and finished with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
Senior guard Bryan Miller (Trenton, N.J.) added 14 points, while
senior forward Steve Koenigstein (Toms River, N.J.) contributed 11
points off the bench. Guard Lamar Wright (Galloway, N.J.) finished
with nine points, six steals and four assists in the victory.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, January 13, when they
resume New Jersey Athletic Conference action with a home
doubleheader against Richard Stockton College. Tip-off is set for 3
p.m.
