Cougars Battle Past WPU, 3-1
Wayne, N.J. (10/24/07) - Kean University came
from behind as senior Konrad Kruczek (Clifton, N.J.) tallied two
goals to defeat the host Pioneers, 3-1, Wednesday evening in soggy
men's soccer action at William Paterson University.
With the win the Cougars improve to 9-10 overall and 4-5 in New
Jersey Athletic Conference play. The NJAC win also keeps
Kean's post-season potential alive. The Cougars will learn
their fate tomorrow as The College of New Jersey travels to Rowan
University at 7:00 p.m.
In tonight's action, the Pioneers (8-9-1, 2-7 NJAC) got on the
board with thirty seconds remaining in the first half for a 1-0
advantage heading into halftime. Kean then responded quickly
into the second half as Kruczek tied things up off a pass from
freshman Jerry Saintil (East Orange, N.J.) at
45:50. Just three minutes later, Kruczek recorded the
game-winner again off a Saintil assist. Senior Thomas
Fink (Hamilton, N.J.) added an insurance goal off a pass
from Jeff Fisher (Lawrence, N.J.) at 55:03.
This was the first time this season that the Cougars won after
trailing to begin the match.
Senior Kyle Crego (Ocean City, N.J.) tallied
three saves in goal in the win.
The Cougars held a large 17-7 advantage in shots while edging
WPU, 4-1 in corners.
