Nazareth Edges Kean, 4-3

The Kean University women's soccer team fell short this afternoon
as host Nazareth College defeated the Cougars, 4-3. The loss
is the first since September 17th.
Nazareth (9-2) edged the Cougars (7-3-2) in shots, 19-15, while
both schools had two corners a piece.
The Golden Flyers provided all the scoring in the first half as
Caity Richardson and Erica Conte notched goals at 14:14 and 19:23
respectively. Kean pulled within one at 45:35 as sophomore
Jen Behrens (Ringwood, N.J.) scored off a pass
from Jenna Godwin (Kingwood, N.J.). Nazareth would
rally and fire off two quick goals again as Kelly Finn and Caroline
Parsons scored in the 52nd and 55th
minute. The Cougars did not go quietly as sophomore
Kristin Cizek (Manalapan, N.J.) recorded Kean's
second goal off an assist from sophomore Kayla Duncan
(Edison, N.J.). The Cougars got as close as 4-3 as
freshman Randi Vizoco (Erial, N.J.) rallied in the
final minutes off a pass from Duncan. The Golden Flyers would
hold the rally and pull away with the win.
Sophomore Nicole Groszew (Denville, N.J.) and
freshman Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.) combined
in goal for the Cougars. Groszew tallied two saves in 30
minutes while Russo collected 11 in the final 60 minutes of play.
Kean gets right back to action as they take on Division II
LeMoyne College on Sunday, October 7th at noon.
