Men's Soccer Falls to #5 North Carolina

HILLSIDE, N.J. (10/07/07) - The Kean University
men's soccer team fell to fifth-ranked and unbeate North Carolina
Wesleyan College in non-conference action on Sunday
afternoon.
The Battling Bishops (13-0) took an early 1-0 lead on a
breakaway goal by senior forward Alimamy Kargbo
(Woodbridge, Va.) just 4:22 into the contest. North
Carolina Wesleyan extended the lead to 2-0 in the 26th
minute, as freshman midfielder Marco Kirsch (Celle,
Germany) scored on a breakaway off the assist from
sophomore midfielder Edgar Zaldivar (Alexandria,
Va.).
Kean (5-8) cut the deficit in half, as senior midfielder
Konrad Kruczek (Clifton, N.J.) found the back of
the net on a deep shot from the right side with 6:51 left in the
opening half.
In the second half, the Bishops added the insurance tally, as
Kirsch converted the penalty kick following a foul in the box in
the 72nd minute.
Kean rookie Alfredo Oquendo (North Plainfield, N.J.) stopped
four shots in goal, while Bishops freshman Alberto Faisca
(Brunswick, Md.) also made four saves in the victory.
The Bishops held a 15-12 edge in shots and a slight 8-7
advantage in corner kicks.
The Cougars return to New Jersey Athletic Conference play on
Wednesday, October 10, when they travel to Montclair State
University for a 3 p.m. contest.
