Selinsgrove, Pa. (11/17/07) - The Kean University men's basketball team rebounded from a tough overtime loss in its season opener to win the consolation matchup of the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament by defeating Pennsylvania College, 88-53, Saturday afternoon at tournament host Susquehanna University.

Senior Lamar Wright (Galloway, N.J.) led the way for the Cougars with 23 points, earning all-tournament team honors after averaging 24.5 points and six rebounds in the tournament.  .  The first Kean victory of the season also marked the first career head coaching victory for Cougar Head Coach Rob Kurzinsky who took over the program during the summer.

Kean sprinted out of the gate recording the games first 11 points as freshman Keith Williams (Jersey City, N.J.) notched back-to-back treys while freshman Farod Robinson (Jersey City, N.J.) added five points in the run.  Never trailing, the Cougars led by as many as 20 points on three separate occasions in the first half.  Wright registered 12 first half points, while Williams (pictured right) had eight.

Kean didn't let up in the second half, as they outscored Penn College, 40-20, en-route to the 35-point victory.  Junior Karwana Palmer (Bloomfield, N.J.) gave the Cougars their biggest lead of the day with 8:24 remaining hitting two free-throws for an 80-43 advantage.

On the afternoon, Williams finished with 12 points while sophomore Levar Tilly (Jersey City, N.J.) added 11 points and four rebounds.  Senior Will Floyd (Eustis, Fla.) recorded seven points off the bench.
