Women's Basketball Breezes Past Hunter,
89-26

(12/13/07) - The
Kean University women's basketball team picked up their sixth win
of the season by defeating host Hunter College, 89-26.
Freshman Brittany Powell (Tinton
Falls,
N.J.) (pictured right) led the
way for the Cougars recording 19 points in 16 minutes of action
while junior Melissa Beyruti (Union
City,
N.J.) added 16 points in the win.
After trailing 4-0 in the opening minutes of play, the Cougars
responded by rolling off 13 straight points to take a lead they
would never relinquish. At intermission, Kean led by 31
points with a score of 47-16. Beyruti led KU with 11 first
half points while sophomore Cardiss Jackman
(Tobyhanna,
Pa.) chipped in with seven
points.
The Cougars then dominated the second half allowing just 10
Hunter points while also adding 42 of their own, ending the game
with their biggest lead of the evening at 63.
Senior Chari' Cooper (Paulsboro, N.J.) finished
with 10 points and nine rebounds while junior Ebony Jackson
(Newark, N.J.) had nine points and nine assists.
Kean will face off against the University of Scranton on
Wednesday, December 19th at 7 p.m.
