Oshodi, Jones Lead Men's Hoops Past

Freshmen forwards Akinwande Oshodi (Florence,
N.J.) and Jonathan Jones (Linden, N.J.)
combined for 34 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Kean
University men's basketball team past visiting Wilkes University,
67-52, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening.
Oshodi finished with a career-high 19 points, six rebounds
and five steals, while Jones (pictured right) came off the bench
and scored a career-best 15 points. For the Colonels, junior
forward Steve Kline (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored 17
points to lead the team.
In the opening half, the Cougars (3-5) held a double-digit lead
the final nine minutes of the half and led by as many as 18 points
at 33-15 before Wilkes (3-4) scored the final basket of the half as
the Cougars took a 33-17 into the locker room.
Oshodi led the way with 14 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the
floor, while Jones added seven points. Sophomore forward
Tom Kresge (Brodheadsville, Pa.) led the Colonels
with six points and added four rebounds in the opening half
of play.
The Colonels trimmed the deficit to single-digits midway through
the second half, scoring 11 unanswered points to pull within three
points with 10:04 remaining. Kean held a slim
four-point lead (47-43) with just over five minutes remaining
before pushing the lead back out to 17 points following a 15-2 run
en-route to the 15-point victory.
Freshman Keith Williams (Jersey City, N.J.)
(pictured right) had 14 points, four steals and three assists,
while sophomore Levar Tilly (Jersey City, N.J.)
added 12 points, six rebounds and a game-high six assists.
For Wilkes, Kresge hit all 10 of his free throws, as he finished
with 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Kean returns to action on December 27, when they take on
Linfield College (Ore.) at the Cactus Jam in Phoenix, Ariz.
