Men's Lacrosse Falls to Farmingdale, 20-16
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (4/21/07) - Senior attack Steve
Gill (Patchogue, N.Y.) scored four goals, however the Kean
University men's lacrosse team suffered a 20-16 loss to Farmingdale
State University in Skyline Conference action on Saturday
afternoon.
Farmingdale (4-10, 4-5 Skyline) held a 5-3 after the first
period before the Cougars (11-4, 5-3 Skyline) battled back to take
a 9-6 lead at halftime.
In the third period, the Rams stormed back, scoring six straight
goals in the opening six minutes to take a 12-9 lead. Kean
scored three of the final four goals of the period, pulling within
one goal at 13-12 with 33 seconds left in the third period on a
goal by senior midfielder Mike Tanis
(Oak Ridge, N.J.).
Kean tied the game with 12:40 remaining in the game on the
unassisted goal by senior Brian Buttray (Lincoln Park,
N.J.), however the Rams regained the lead less than two
minutes later and pulled away for the win.
Gill added two groundballs and a caused turnover in the loss,
while freshman attack Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn,
N.J.) added a game-high four assists. In goal,
junior Dave Nichols (Florham Park, N.J.) made
eight saves.
The Cougars close out the regular season against Montclair State
University in Skyline action on Monday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m.
