Cougars Close Out NJAC Regular Season With Win

Jersey City, N.J. (4/30/07) - Freshman Joe Bartlinski
(South Amboy, N.J.) improved to 4-0 while freshman
Chris Carrano (Lincoln Park, N.J.) drove in two as
fifth ranked Kean University defeated New Jersey City University,
10-6, Monday afternoon in their final regular season conference
game.
The Cougars improve to 15-3 in NJAC action and 30-6
overall. This is the third straight 30 win season in program
history and fourth overall.
Kean scored in all but three innings this afternoon and held the
lead in all but the bottom of the first inning.
The Cougars offense poured in six runs, with the benefit of
three errors, in the middle three innings of the game to secure the
win.
Offensively Carrano was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored
while senior Perry Schatzow (Ocean Twp., N.J.) was
2-for-3 with four runs scored and an RBI. Senior Joe
D'Andrea (Hamilton, N.J.) and juniors Maikel De La
Rosa (Newark, N.J) and Kevin O'Neill (Union,
N.J.) each had two hits a piece.
Bartlinski earned the win after tossing six innings allowing
three runs, two earned, and seven hits. He also struck out
six and walked four.
For the Gothic Knights Michael McCormick (North
Brunswick, N.J.) was 3-for-5 with two RBI and Jose
Fulgencio (Bronx, N.Y.) extended his hitting streak to 27
games.
The Cougars will now enjoy a short break before taking on
Richard Stockton, the sixth seed, in the upcoming NJAC Tournament.
Game time is set for Thursday, May 3rd at 3:30
p.m. at Jim Hynes Stadium.
