Feneis Propels Kean In NJAC Tournament; Cougars
Eliminate Ramapo, 17-2
Newark, N.J. (5/5/07) - Sophomore Colin Feneis
(Spotswood, N.J.) tossed a complete game as top-seeded
Kean University defeated fourth seeded Ramapo College, 17-2,
Saturday afternoon in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament
at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark, N.J.
With the win Kean (32-6) will move on in the winners bracket to
face second seeded The College of New Jersey. That game
will be played on Sunday, May 6th at 10 a.m. at the
host, Riverfront Stadium in Newark, N.J. With the loss,
Ramapo College (29-13) is eliminated from the tournament.
Feneis allowed eight hits along with two earned runs while
improving to 4-0. He also fanned nine and walked just one.
The Cougars offense exploded for seven runs in the top of the
fourth to take a 9-0 lead on their way to recording 16 hits in
today's win.
Junior Derek Gianakas (Edison, N.J.) was 1-for-3
with four RBI, including a three run shot over the leftfield wall
in the seven run fourth. Freshman Nick Nolan (Linden,
N.J.) was 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBI.
Junior Maikel De La Rosa (Newark, N.J.) was
2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Freshman Michael Murano (Brick, N.J.) suffered
the loss for the Roadrunners. He (3-1) allowed eight runs,
six earned, in three and a third innings. He allowed six hits
while also striking out one and walking one.
