Gibbs Sets Single Season Mark in KU
Shutout
Union, N.J. (10/19/08) - Junior
Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) recorded two
goals on her way to a new KU single season record to propel the
Cougars to a 3-0 victory over visiting Rhodes College Sunday
afternoon at Kean Alumni Stadium.
With her two goals, Gibbs has tallied 21 for the season, breaking
the mark previously set by Patrice DiFabio of 20 set in 1973.
The win improves the Cougars to 12-2 overall this fall while the
loss drops Rhodes to 8-4.
After taking a penalty corner, Gibbs (pictured right) touched in
the game's first goal off a shot from senior Katie McGee
(Cherry Hill, N.J.) in the 10th minute.
Less than a minute later, Gibbs recorded her second of the
afternoon of an assist from freshman Olivia Triano
(Keyport, N.J.). The score would remain that way
through the break before sophomore Erica Kelly (West
Deptford, N.J.) closed out the scoring with a goal at
56:18.
Sophomore Ashlie Berghold (Boyertown, Pa.) had
two saves in her third shutout of the season. For the Lynx,
backup keeper Valerie Clarke (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) had
one save.
Kean returns to action on Wednesday, October 22nd
when they travel to take on NJAC foe Montclair State at 7 p.m.
while Rhodes will stay in the northeast and visit Ursinus College
on Tuesday, October 21st at 3:30 p.m.
