Women's Soccer Falls in ECAC
Semifinals
HOBOKEN, N.J. (11/15/08) - The Kean University
women's soccer team closed out the 2008 season, falling to
top-seeded Stevens Institute of Technology, 4-2, in the Eastern
College Athletic Conference Metro Region semifinals on Saturday
morning.
The Cougars finished the season with a 12-8 overall mark, while
Stevens improved to 14-5-2 and advance to face New York University
for the ECAC Metro Region Championship.
After the Ducks took an early 3-0 lead less than 15 minutes into
the contest, Kean senior Amanda Pitts (Roselle,
N.J.) got the Cougars on the board with her sixth goal of
the season, scoring off the assist from sophomore Samantha
Ciccone (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) (pictured right) to
make the score 3-1 with 8:24 remaining in the first half.
Stevens extended the lead to 4-1 in the 72nd minute,
before freshman forward Danielle Esposito (Holmdel,
N.J.) picked up a loose ball in the box and found senior
Nicole Tahan (Clifton, N.J.) for the goal with
10:06 remaining in the game.
In goal, sophomore Leandra Russo (Galloway,
N.J.) made one save.
